As\u00ed mismo, se presenta como granos incrustados y compactos. La cordierita se altera r\u00e1pidamente a pinita, unos agregados de clorita, moscovita y otros silicatos.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Propiedades f\u00edsicas: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Color: Diversas tonalidades de azul, gris, amarillo. La cordierita calidad gema se llama iolita.<\/p>\n<p>Exfoliaci\u00f3n: {010} mala y peor con {100}y {001}.<\/p>\n<p>Fractura subconcoidea.<\/p>\n<p>Raya: Blanca.<\/p>\n<p>Brillo: V\u00edtreo.<\/p>\n<p>Dureza: <strong>H <\/strong>7 \u2013 7,5<\/p>\n<p>Peso espec\u00edfico: <strong>G<\/strong> 2,60 \u2013 2,66 g\/cm<sup>3<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Muestra pleocro\u00edsmo en variedades ricas en hierro, llamada dicro\u00edta.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Composici\u00f3n:<\/strong> La mayor parte de las cordieritas son ricas en magnesio. El contenido en aluminio muestra poca variaci\u00f3n.
